News: Changes to the auDA Validation Process for transfers and renewals

Published: 25/09/2024 Back

With guidance from auDA, we’re making changes to improve the
eligibility validation process, aiming to reduce eligibility
complaints and the subsequent potential loss of invalid .au domains.

All .au domain renewals and inbound transfers will undergo a
validation check.

This change will be implemented to by our Registrar on October 15, 2024.

If a domain name DOES NOT MEET THE NECESSARY ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
(such as an active ABN or ACN) after an inbound transfer or renewal,
the domain registrant will be notified to advise that it must move to
a valid and eligible registrant within 30 days to prevent suspension.

As always, registrants can update their eligibility criteria through
the Change of Registrant process.

For domain renewals, Netracom will notify registrants if any details are invalid
prior to renewal.

It’s recommended that the Change of Registrant process be used instead of
renewing the domain name.
